What Are Dental Implants?

mountain divider

Implants are tiny, biocompatible posts that replace the roots of missing teeth. Their job is to create a stable foundation for patients’ replacement teeth to attach to. Implants fuse with the jawbone, giving patients a permanent tooth replacement solution that they can trust. In addition to keeping tooth restorations in place, implants also stimulate the jaw and prevent bone deterioration.

Implant-Supported Crowns

For single tooth replacement, we can place a dental crown onto an implant using an abutment (connective piece). Implant-supported crowns don’t need to rely on any of the surrounding teeth for support.

Implant-Supported Bridges

An implant-supported bridge can be used to replace one tooth or multiple missing teeth in a row. The bridge has crowns on either side that connect to implants on the edges of the gap. Once attached, the bridge’s middle replacement teeth fill in the empty space.

Implant-Supported Dentures with Mini Implants

Implant-supported dentures are fixed to the gums with the help of mini implants. Mini implants are smaller versions of regular implants that require less preparation and are often easier to place into the jaw. They attach to the bottom of dentures to secure them to the jawline.
