The Root Canal Process

Before we begin your root canal, we’ll thoroughly numb the area around the tooth so that the most you will feel is slight pressure while we work. We also offer a variety of sedation options that we can discuss during your consultation to ensure that you are completely comfortable and at ease. We create a small entry point in the top of your tooth to access the pulp. Through this hole, we’ll remove any damaged pulp from inside of the tooth’s canals and disinfect the area. Then, we’ll use a material called gutta-percha to fill in the empty space and close the entry point. After your root canal is complete, Dr. Mai may recommend placing a crown over your tooth for additional protection.
